Since You Probably Won’t Read This Away….

For 40 plus years I have searched for the perfect workout to both satisfy my fitness goals and keep me entertained at the same time. Well, I finally found it…..Homeless Person Hurdles. Yeah, it’s in really poor taste and illegal in some countries, but heck why not give hope to the hopeless by bounding over a few on your morning run. Better yet carry loose change in our pockets and some might fall out mid-flight. Can you say BONUS!

This was a really poor attempt at humor, but nobody has been reading this blog lately, so I doubt I hurt too many feelings especially since the homeless probably don’t have working laptops with an active internet connections. But if you are homeless and read this blog after stumbling into a library, I am sorry.

If you actually read this far, I will say that a very high percentage of the contents of this blog are intended for the promotion of good healthy activities. Please take a look at the other 158 blog entries and I am sure if you give it a chance, you will find benefit from most of them. Peace. No humans nor any animals were harmed in the making of this blog.

Work, Kids, School and Running

These past 4 months, running has taken a distant last place in my life. I went back to college after 21 years off, my daughter made an elite traveling volleyball team and the overtime at work has been through the roof. Running went from 6 times a week to 4 to 3 to 1.

I must say it has been tough. Gained more than a few pounds, but it was worth it. After having nightmares of going back to college and failing, I was able to get an A in my first class back, Clinical Psychology. It will be slow going to get that degree as I won’t be able to take more than 1 or 2 classes a semester to pull down those last 40 credit hours. I will take it as it comes and maybe get in a few miles along the way.

Any way to improve one’s life is worth the struggle, be it by land or by textbook.

Sturgis Falls 1/2 Marathon

Run 440 plus will be at the Sturgis Falls Half Marathon in Cedar Falls, IA this Sunday June 26th. I will signing autographs and taking pictures with my fans after the race. Right, if I had fans that is.

Seriously, I am looking forward to a training run on a race day. 16 miles with 13.1 being part of the race and the rest being warmup and cool down. My hamstring has been tight lately, so my race goals are not very high. It will be a race day decision whether to push for a faster start corral qualifying time for Chicago or just taking it easy and finishing the race.

Oh well, such is the life of a 40 plus runner. Dealing with the limp of the week.
